As Regional Print News Stalls – Young Reporter Podcasts with RODE

Local Regional News Media switch to podcasting news with RODE Rodecaster Pro and RODE PODMIC

In a story on Channel 10’s The Project (28th May, 2020) due to the cost of running print media regional news is taking a sad downturn in output and many local newspapers are closing.

In their story, The Projects Lisa Wilkinson highlights the Victorian town of Ararat and a young reporter who has taken it upon himself to keep local news alive. Jack Ward, 16, is the journalist at the Ararat Advocate and is responsible for content both written and via audio podcast.

With the cost of print media becoming too much for local news producers, podcasting is a cheap and rewarding medium to keep your local community informed.

As a RODE Australia dealer, we were pleased to see Jack using the RODE RodeCaster Pro along with a Rode PODMIC. We reached out to Jack to get his impression on his podcast recording setup and he gave it a resounding 10/10! Have listen to Jack’s podcast on Apple Podcast’s, there is a link at the bottom of this post.

Jack’s story was also highlighted by the ABC, here is their article:
